One of the clearest ways to understand US market dominance is simply to look at which companies sit at the top of global rankings.
As of 2026, eight of the ten most valuable publicly listed companies in the world are headquartered in the United States.

Now think about this from an Indian investor’s perspective.
Over 90% of Indian smartphone users interact with at least one US technology platform every single day. Whether it is searching on Google, watching YouTube, shopping on Amazon, working on Microsoft Office, or sending a message through WhatsApp, these companies are embedded in everyday Indian life.
Google commands roughly 97% of India’s search market. Apple’s India revenue crossed Rs 79,000 crore in FY25. Amazon India works with more than 4 million small businesses.
And yet, not one of these companies is listed on Indian exchanges.
If you want to own a share of Apple, Alphabet, or Microsoft, you have to step into the US market. There is no domestic substitute.
