Former Google employee Richard Ho is leading these efforts. “OpenAI is having ongoing conversations with industry and government stakeholders about increasing access to the infrastructure needed to ensure AI’s benefits are widely accessible,” said an OpenAI spokesperson. The company is pursuing the prospect of creating its own chips in order to cut down on the costs needed for its AI models, such as ChatGPT and DALL-E3.
