Blue-Chip Bets: 3 Stocks to Buy from the Biggest U.S. Employers

One of my favorite infographic websites is VisusalCapitalist.com, a Vancouver-based online publisher that uses visuals to tell business stories. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. On April 15, it published an infographic detailing the U.S. blue-chip stocks with the largest number of employees. With rare exceptions, when a company consistently grows its headcount over the long haul, it’s generally a well-run business with growing revenues and profits. So I bet you can guess who the number one employer in the U.S. is. Yes, it’s Walmart (NYSE: WMT ). Walmart’s latest proxy statement said it had 2.2 million employees as of Dec. 31, 2022, while Visual Capitalist says it’s 2.1 million. Either way, it’s a lot. Here are three other top choices for blue-chip stocks that also employ a large workforce. Home Depot (HD) Source: Cassiohabib / Shutterstock.com According to the Visual Capitalist, Home Depot (NYSE: HD ) is the fourth-largest U.S. employer, with approximately 470,000 employees.

Put $5,000 in These 7 Blue-Chip Stocks Today

If you’re looking for reliability in a crazed market, jump into safer blue-chip stocks . While they’re not all the most exciting stocks on the market, they have proven themselves to be ultra-reliable in any economic environment. They all have proven business models, strong track records, sales, reputations and oftentimes, dividends to boot. That’s because most offer products and services that millions of us use every day. Even better, after a recent pullback in the broader markets, some of the top blue-chip stocks are on sale. Look at AT&T (NYSE: T ), for example. After testing a high of $17.59, it pulled back to $16.33, where it caught support and is just starting to pivot higher. Plus, it’s over-extended on RSI, MACD, and Williams’ %R, which tells us it’s overdue to bounce. And while you wait for the AT&T stock to recover, you can collect its yield of 6.8%. Here are seven more top blue-chip stocks to buy and hold today. Nike (NKE) Source: mimohe / Shutterstock.com Over the last few weeks, shares of Nike (NYSE: NKE ) gapped from about $100 to a low of $88.80.

With a new ownership structure, Home Assistant is making big plans for the future. | The Verge How Home Assistant plans to transition from an enthusiast platform to a mainstream consumer product. How do you solve the problem of growing a popular smart home platform committed to open-source, open-standard ideals into something bigger that stays true to those ideals? You create a foundation. At least, that’s the approach Home Assistant founder Paulus Schoutsen has chosen. This week, Home Assistant announced it is now part of the Open Home Foundation . The newly formed non-profit will own and govern all of Home Assistant and its related entities. Its creators and inaugural board members — Schoutsen, Guy Sie, Pascal Vizeli, and J. Nick Koston — all work on Home Assistant, and the foundation has no other members so far. In a press release, the foundation stated its aim is “to fight against surveillance capitalism, and offer a counterbalance to Big Tech influence, in the smart home — by focusing on privacy, choice, and sustainability for smart home users.” Image: Open Home Foundation The Open Home Foundation is the new owner of Home Assistant.

People keep stealing heavy equipment from Home Depot’s rental department and selling it on Facebook

Federal prosecutors in Oregon have brought charges against seven defendants conspiracy to defraud Home Depot . The complaint says the group rented equipment from the retailer using stolen credit card numbers. Instead of returning the items, prosecutors say the crew sold it on Facebook and other marketplaces. Home Depot''s rental department continues to battle the theft of its heavy equipment in schemes where suspects sell the machinery on sites like Facebook Marketplace, prosecutors allege. Earlier this month, federal prosecutors in Oregon brought charges against a group of seven defendants, accusing them of conspiring in a scheme in which they stole heavy machinery from Home Depot by renting it and not returning it. According to the indictment, first reported by Court Watch , members of the group would go to the retailer''s rental desk at locations in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado to borrow the equipment using stolen credit and debit card information . Prosecutors also said the defendants would "often use their real driver''s license" for the required identification.
