The transfer of weapons and ammunition to Israel may constitute serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as State complicity in international crimes, possibly including genocide, UN experts said on Thursday. In a statement released in Geneva, UN experts reiterated their call for an immediate halt to transfers of weapons and ammunition to Israel. “In line with recent calls from the Human Rights Council and the independent UN experts to States to cease the sale, transfer and diversion of arms, munitions and other military equipment to Israel, arms manufacturers supplying Israel,” said the experts. Georgia lost 1-3 to Turkey in a dramatic match in Dortmund, Germany on June 18. The national team still has two more tries to go before the playoffs, with Group F matches against Czechia on June 22 and Portugal on June 26. A first or second place finish in the group will guarantee a place in the playoffs. Since the historic penalty shootout win over Greece on March 26, which secured the national team’s first-ever qualification for Euro 2024, the football-loving nation has been living in anticipation of the championship. Thousands watched today’s match from specially set up venues and stadiums in the capital and the regions. Those who were previously indifferent to football have learned the basics and now shed heartfelt tears for today’s match. The most ardent fans traveled to Germany and supported the players from the stadium. Politicians were no exception. A week before the match, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, himself a former soccer player, met with the team in Düsseldorf, Germany, to wish them luck and express their support.
Not all dividend stocks are worthy of a royal title like Dividend Duke (a completely made-up term, by the way). Indeed, there are Dividend Kings who have raised dividends by at least 50 straight years, a feat that’s impressive but quite hard to do. Not because dividend payers can’t stand up to challenges (like recessions) thrown their way, but because many firms simply weren’t public in the early-to-mid 1970s to be eligible for the Dividend King title. The future is uncertain, but that doesn’t mean firms with decades (perhaps less than five decades) can’t find their way to 50 consecutive years of dividend raises. We’ll check out three Dividend Dukes that may, one day, rise to become Dividend Kings. Their growth rates may also lead to better appreciation potential relative to some older, growth-lacking Dividend Kings. These dividend stocks that can help make your portfolio that much more noble. William Anders, the former US astronaut who took the historic “Earthrise” photo from space over 55 years ago, died in a plane crash on Friday at the age of 90, his family said. Anders had been piloting a small plane which crashed off the coast of Washington state on Friday morning, his son told US media. Anders was alone in the plane. His body was later recovered by a dive team, The Seattle Times reported, quoting a Coast Guard spokesperson. A member of the Apollo 8 mission in December 1968, Anders became one of the first humans to orbit the Moon, along with fellow Americans Frank Borman and James Lovell. The crew circled the Moon 10 times without landing, before successfully returning to Earth on December 27, 1968. On one of the lunar orbits, Anders captured a photo of the bright blue Earth against the vast darkness of space, with the Moon’s cratered surface in the foreground. “We’d been going backwards and upside down, didn’t really see the Earth or the Sun, and when we rolled around and came around and saw the first Earthrise,” he said in a 1997 NASA oral history interview. “(T)hat certainly was, by far, the most impressive thing.
