Amid escalating geopolitical flashpoints, a clear lesson is emerging for western economies, which may lead to a renaissance for alternative energy stocks . The world continues to run on hydrocarbons and that might not change in the foreseeable future. Still, potential disruptions force a discussion for backup plans. Currently, tensions in the Middle East have resulted in two nations exchanging missile attacks. For now, both sides appear to want to cool the temperature. Nevertheless, a miscalculation could send the situation spiraling out of control. Combine this matter with the military conflict in Europe and oil supply chains – particularly to western nations – could be compromised. Granted, circumstances won’t change overnight. However, the flashpoints across multiple regions in the world gave as loud of a wake-up call as possible. With that, below are alternative energy stocks to consider. NextEra Energy (NEE) Source: IgorGolovniov/Shutterstock.com One of the top players among alternative energy stocks, NextEra Energy (NYSE: NEE ) generates, transmits, distributes and sells electric power to retail and wholesale customers in North America.

Director Stanley Stern Sells Shares of Ormat Technologies Inc (ORA)
Renewable energy stocks may be a controversial idea for some folks. After all, the concept of green solutions sometimes conjures up images of tree-hugging activists disrupting various commercial activities. Some investors may not want to support such hooliganism. At the same time, society is changing. In particular, more people – especially the younger generations – care about eco-friendly strategies than prior generations. One study pointed out that three out of four Generation Z consumers prioritize sustainability than brand names when shopping. In other words, you might not care about going green and that’s entirely your prerogative. However, the changing world does care – and you could be profitable by supporting the trend. With that, below are renewable energy stocks to consider. Ormat (ORA) Source: riekephotos / Shutterstock.com Falling under the broad utilities segment, Ormat (NYSE: ORA ) engages in the geothermal and recovered energy power business. It features operations in the U.S., Indonesia, Kenya, Turkey, Chile, Guatemala, Guadeloupe, New Zealand, Honduras and other international regions.
The bullish case for renewable energy stocks arguably comes down to one central theme: rising relevance. For years, scientists and former Vice President Al Gore have been warning Americans and the global community about climate change. Recently, the narrative has picked up steam as the data becomes all the more undeniable. So, that’s one key reason why renewable energy stocks have picked up interest – it’s good for all of us. Another factor that bolsters the bullish case for the green sector is geopolitics. We’ve seen firsthand that dependency on foreign sources of energy can leave us compromised and vulnerable. By their very nature, however, renewable energy can be sourced anywhere. That helps the planet and may even mitigate geopolitical blackmail. And while there will likely always be room for hydrocarbons, more jurisdictions are pushing for green and sustainable solutions. With that, below are three renewable energy stocks to consider.
