3 EV Stocks to Buy That Are Likely to Get Some Love From Democratic Governors

A sign that the electric vehicle (EV) market is making a comeback recently came from Illinois, sending EV stocks up. Governor JB Pritzker announced that Rivian (NASDAQ: RIVN ) will be receiving an incentive package of more than $8 million to expand its production facility in Normal, IL. This is great news for the EV producer, as the Normal facility is where Rivian produces multiple popular models. Pritzker, a member of the Democratic party, stated that “Illinois is positioned to be a powerhouse in this market for years to come, bringing quality jobs and revitalizing communities across the state.” RIVN stock is rising on this news, but investors should consider the potential implications for the entire sector. If other state leaders follow Pritzker’s lead, it could spur growth for other EV stocks, as more politicians recognize the benefits that investing in EVs and EV infrastructure production at the state level can provide. As I’ve reported, many Republican politicians have displayed a clear anti-EV stance .

RIVN Stock: Rivian Just Got $827 Million to Expand Its Illinois Plant

Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ: RIVN ) stock is rising today on important production news. It hasn’t been an easy month for the electric vehicle (EV) producer, but things are starting to look up. Specifically, today brought news that the state of Illinois has offered Rivian an $827 million incentive package to expand its factory in Normal, Illinois, sending RIVN stock into the green. As this facility is where the company builds its popular R1S and R1T models, this cash influx is of paramount importance. It should allow Rivian to keep scaling production at a critical time when the company needs to show investors it’s still worth betting on. With Rivian’s next earnings report approaching, RIVN stock is in full focus on Wall Street. But now investors have another reason to trust that its recent growth can continue throughout the second half of 2024. Like most of the EV market, Rivian is mounting a comeback. What’s Happening With RIVN Stock? It’s not hard to see why this news would quickly boost share prices.

Forget the Tech Slump: Amazon Stock Proves It’s a Powerhouse Investment

Amazon.com ‘s (NASDAQ: AMZN ) profits continue to soar. Moreover, the tech giant’s two main businesses — its North American e-commerce unit and its AWS cloud infrastructure division — are both growing very rapidly. They also both have powerful, positive catalysts, while their profitability is increasing very quickly. Given these points, I remain very bullish on Amazon stock and continue to urge all investors to buy its shares. Also importantly, the stock’s valuation is quite attractive in light of the firm’s current, strong growth trends, the huge increases in its bottom line and its multiple, powerful and positive catalysts. Profitability is soaring Last quarter, the conglomerate’s net income jumped to $10.4 billion compared with $3.2 billion in the first quarter of 2023. The increase would have been much greater if the company had not suffered losses from its investment in electric vehicle (EV) maker Rivian (NASDAQ: RIVN ). That’s because, last quarter, the pre-tax loss from the investment came in at $2 billion versus a pre-tax loss of just $500 million in Q1 2023.

3 EV Stocks That Could Make You a Fortune (if You Dare)

I believe that there are many worthwhile EV stocks to buy currently available. That’s because, in my view, by 2030 electric vehicles will likely account for close to a majority of all the vehicles sold in the U.S. The main reason for this is that electricity will always be cheaper on average, than gasoline. After all, oil is in general much more expensive to produce than electricity since companies have to conduct exploration operations in order to find oil, and drilling for oil is rather costly. Additionally, speculators frequently bid up the price of oil in America, while electricity prices are generally tightly regulated. Let’s not forget that the amount of time needed to charge EV batteries is constantly dropping, while the number of public EV chargers is rapidly increasing and batteries are consistently getting cheaper to produce. So total cost of ownership for EVs will eventually be much lower than gasoline-powered vehicles, and EVs are going to become much more convenient to use than they are now.
