The New Germany Fund Inc is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation primarily through investment in middle-market German equities. The Fund primarily focuses its investments on Germany. Under normal market conditions, at least 80% of the Fund’s net assets are invested in equity or equity-linked securities of German companies. In addition, at least 65% of its total assets are invested in equity or equity-linked securities of smaller and medium-sized German companies. The Fund may trade in securities for short-term gain. The Fund may seek to earn additional income by lending its portfolio securities. The Fund invests in a range of sectors, which include industrials, consumer discretionary, information technology, communication services, materials, health care, financials, real estate and consumer staples.
